This class is the next step up! In this class the “circle-time” and “snack-time” experience is prolonged. Children learn to sit and attend for a longer periods of time, during these activities. They begin to become aware of their peers and experience a variety of social situations. Children engage in appropriate developmental play, such as: matching pictures and shapes, understanding size and color, formulating negative reasoning, coloring with a variety of mediums, stringing beads and building block towers. Personal values begin to emerge as children begin to defend their own possessions, say “no” meaningfully, engage in cause and effect activities and begin associative play. Teachers provide intervention for all of the children based on their individual developmental profile in a small group setting (1:3 ratio). The maximum amount of children in a class is 8 at a time with 3 adult facilitators. This ratio allows for an ample amount of personal attention to be given to each child, while still enabling them to socialize and form vital relationships with their peers. This class is three hours long 8:00-11:00 a.m. and is available 5 days a week. We highly recommend a minimum of two days.
