YOU and ME CLASSES
YOU and ME Classes are ‘stay and play’ classes designed to teach and encourage early learning through play. Caregivers are 100% hands-on with their child during this classroom experience and are encouraged to participate in all aspects of the program. In the class the Interventionist will model techniques and narrate to the families what the child is doing, why the child is ding it and the importance of building on developmental skills. This class is one and a half hours of developmental fun.
All YOU and ME Classes are an introduction to Step-by-Step on site programs. It gives children an opportunity to extend their relationship skills with their parents, peers, peer’s parents and their teachers. Children explore an enriching and inspiring environment; they learn to recognize familiar friends, communicate wants and needs, experience the arts, and build both their fine and gross motor skills. The children learn to follow a classroom routine including circle-time, snack-time, music, art story-time and more.
Teachers provide intervention for all of the children based on their individual development profile in a small group setting. The maximum amount of children in a class is 8. This ratio allows for an ample amount of personal attention to be given to each child and their caregiver, while still enabling them to socialize and form vital relationships with their peers.
Typical Session:
- The first segment of the session is social for your infant/toddler and you to meet, greet and settle in. During this time the facilitators are able to observe each child’s developmental patterns and activities.
- Next portion of class is devoted to facilitated play and discussion.
- The final portion of the class is for parent-to-parent support, interaction and closure.
This is also an opportunity for more individual time with each of the facilitators or time for question and answer.
