Admissions

All potential participants must fill out our family questionnaire and registration forms.  Classes are filled by first come first serve in two categories.   We strive for an inclusive atmosphere. 50% of our children may be typically developing and 50% may have developmental needs or may be gifted. All children deserve to learn in a nurturing and individualized environment where children may learn acceptance and tolerance from one another. Typically developing children learn empathy and acceptance of differences and children with special needs learn developmentally appropriate skills from children without special needs.

When the two categories are filled potential participants will be placed on a waiting list.  This often indicates the need to open a new class.

Once the application questionnaire and forms are reviewed, you will be notified as to your status of enrollment.  It is important to complete the forms thoroughly. If they are incomplete, we will send them back and ask you to complete the forms and/or questionnaire more completely.  Your place will not be held until the forms are accepted.  We do have policies that you must agree to in order to participate in the program.  Siblings do have a priority in placement and are eligible for a 10% discount on tuition.

All standard groups and classes are $12.00 per hour. Additional services and programs are individually priced based on level of intensity and need. Participants may attend one or more activities per day or week. Scholarships are available for participants in need. Visit www.TIPS-Foundation.org for a scholarship application.  For more information on grants and scholarships, you may call John Cox at Step-by-Step or E-mail him at Info@Tips-foundation.org.

Classes, groups and programs are offered Monday-Friday 7:00 am for Breakfast Club until 5:30pm and Saturdays from 9:00-1:00.  Some classes and events are offered in the evenings and afternoons on the weekends. Step-by-Step is a year round program. See the annual calendar on the next page. The first day of classes begins on Wednesday September 7, 2011 and ends June 29, 2012.  Summer Session begins on July 2, 2012 and ends on August 31, 2012.

Families receiving funding from the school district, the regional centers, or are on a scholarship, are responsible for following up with their respective agency regarding continued funding.  The regional center does not fund on several holidays throughout the year.  See Holiday Schedule on page 31 for more details.  Families may pay privately for their child to attend on non-regional center funded days that SBS is open. We are not authorized to make up non-funded days.
